A classic African blending component, largely chosen because of its pleasant acidity profile and espresso-centric flavour notes. Brown spice aromatics with a smooth mouthfeel and notes of caramelised sugar, grape and nutmeg. It is inherently destined to flourish in an espresso blend.
Mount Elgon is a massive solitary volcanic mountain on the border of eastern Uganda and western Kenya. I t ’s vast form, eighty kilometres in diameter, rises 3,070 metres above the surrounding plains. Its cooler heights offer respite for humans from the hot plains below, and its higher altitudes provide a refuge for flora and fauna.
The small holder producers that have contributed to this lot, grow their coffee along the hills surrounding this ancient mountain.
Our in-country partner, UGACOF is committed to improving quality in Uganda by building new washing stations and infrastructure and training personnel in the region. They are currently working with more than 8,000 farmers on farming practices, climate-smart agriculture and other best practices that help improve yield and quality while enabling a sustainable future for all.
